The old rule still applies. During the time that's designated as theirs, together, there are to be no work-related distractions.

Which means he's silenced his inbound messages for anything that isn't emergency-priority. Everything else will just have to wait a while.

Simon settles on the couch next to Kaylee, and holds out a mug of homemade cocoa. "So. How's my first attempt?"

"Mm." She takes it from him, takes a sip. "Mm."

His smile broadens. "That sounds like approval."

"This might be your job from now on," she says, indicating the cup. "I'm just sayin'."

Now he's grinning.

"Well, it's a very heavy responsibility, but I don't think I can argue."

And he takes a sip from his own mug.

Kaylee lets her head tilt back against the cushions, smiling. "We got anything we want to do besides sit around? -- not that I'm mindin' it."

"Mm," he agrees, "at least a little sitting around would be really good."

He stretches his back slightly, and relaxes back into the cushions in turn.

Almost at random: "I've missed this couch."

"Me too." Happily. "And the naps."

"Naps," he points out, "in addition to a full night's sleep, not instead of."

Kaylee eyes him. "You're not still on about that, are you?"

"Mm? Oh, no."

Airily, as he takes another sip of cocoa.

"So do we want to do anything besides sit around?"

"Yeah," she says after a moment, "but you know, I can't think of what. And I'm gonna laugh if they all wind up bein' like this."

"We could go out," he offers. "See what there is to do in town."

Lazy grin. "Yeah, but if we do, I'm gonna rope you into pickin' out stuff for the house."

He ponders that for a moment.

"What kind of stuff?"

"Curtains."

"Picking out curtains," he repeats, a little dreamily. "Very domestic."

"And boring as hell," Kaylee agrees.

"That too."

He shifts a little closer to lean his shoulder against hers. "We could be really unadventurous and watch a vid."

She laughs. "What, like we've done for the last... however long we've been doin' this?"

He grins. "Being homebodies, I think you called it."

"Did you expect that to change right off?" Kaylee tilts her head.

"No," he says, "and I think I'm okay with it."

A beat. "Though we should do something special every now and then."

"Oh, we're doin' something special," Kaylee says -- a little ominously. "What's the fun of bein' young and fabulous if you don't ever get to go out and show off your pretty husband?"

Simon pauses with his mug at his lips, and raises his eyebrows at her.

"What did you have in mind?"

"I know better than to say dancing," she says, wry. "But I'm gonna do some research."
