It's midmorning in Logan City on Praxed -- early afternoon, ship's time -- when Serenity touches down at the spacedocks. There's supplies to take on, and cargo to unload ... and two members of the crew to go ashore.

Simon and Kaylee are standing by the gangplank, next to the float pallet bearing their luggage. They've put in a call for a rental skimmer; it should be here sometime in the next twenty minutes.

This isn't goodbye forever. But it's still goodbye.

"I'll see what I can do. You'll keep Simon in line, I suppose?"

"Considerin' how often he misbehaves, it'll be hard," she says, blithe, "but I reckon I'll give it my best."

"Good."

Ah hell - she can yell at him for it later.

Mal steps forward to wrap his arms around Kaylee quickly, a hug in before she steps off his boat.

If you squint a little, Kaylee might cling a little.

Just a little.

[badinlatin]

"You'll do good," he rambles. "I know it."

Mal steps back and he feels Inara move to his side without too much of a sound to her at all.

"Well."

And there's a tremor in her voice -- a little one, and it goes away quickly.

"Reckon we'll find out." Kaylee slips her hands in her pockets. "We'll wave you in a couple hours."

[badinlatin]

"Look forward to it."

Since it's not a goodbye.

(She said so.)

"Talk to you soon."

A crooked smile, a quiet yeah, and Kaylee turns to pay some more attention to the pallet with the stuff on it.

Just a little bit longer and I can lose it.
