He takes the stairs to the upper corridor two at a time, hoping fervently that the captain's taken the night watch on the bridge, that he won't have to comm Inara's shuttle to wake him with this kind of news --
Up the corridor from the kitchen, and up the shorter stairway to the bridge, and he stops at the sight of the familiar silhouette in the pilot's seat.
"Mal?"
