Jul. 3rd, 2005 02:46 amSimon sits down on his bed with a sigh, and starts undoing his shoes. It's late, and it's been a long day -- a good day, all told, but a long one.
His encyclopedia sits on his bedside table, and he eyes it for a moment. He hasn't done any research on the rest of those names, not since the great palaver; it's seemed almost beside the point. The connection between their worlds is clear now, has been clear since his hypnosis session with Roland, seems to keep getting clearer. And none of the names he's run through the encyclopedia have turned up anything useful.
He pulls off his socks, and tucks them into the laundry box under his bed, and begins unbuttoning his shirt.
The encyclopedia looks up at him eyelessly.
He sighs, and reaches for it, and rummages for the list of names Eddie gave him. Runs a finger down the list, picks an unused name at random. "LaMerk."
A decorous chime, and the INFORMATION NOT AVAILABLE screen he's come to expect --
-- except it isn't there.
Data displays fountain up and unfold beneath a header reading CLEARANCE ACCEPTED, which blinks for a few seconds and then fades out. History, associated companies, related entries. The Blue Sun logo tiny and discreet in a corner.
Sitting up straighter, he stares at the display for a long moment ... and then begins to key through it.
The day isn't over yet.
